It began in the ancient Capital of China, Xian. After graduating with a Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery from China Medical University in Shenyang in 1983 and gaining a Masters in Medicine, this was where I began my practice as a medical physician and doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
At medical school, I learnt about acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine. However, it was only when I witnessed the genuine effects of using natural products in my clinical practice, my fascination for Chinese medicine was sparked. Seeing cases improve, those could not be treated with western medicine, or were not even recognized as ailments by western physicians made me deeply respect the power of Chinese medicine. Thus, I spent a further year gaining experience in a Chinese medicine academy.
In 1996, I came to the UK. In the following year I gained registration with the British Acupuncture Council (www.acupuncture.org.uk) and began practicing Chinese medicine and acupuncture in England. I further solidified my knowledge by gaining a Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Northern College of Acupuncture. Subsequently, I became a member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (www.rchm.co.uk/).
I love my job and love my patients. I have always used my knowledge and my heart to provide the appropriate treatment. I ensure that my patients feel their money and time are worthwhile spent. This did not change when I set up my own practice in 2001. Some of my current patients have been receiving my treatment for over 10 years. The techniques I use are always individually tailored following a detailed consultation. These include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, ear acupuncture, electric acupuncture. I regularly attend seminars to maintain up to date knowledge, these include courses on Traditional Chinese medicine and specialist seminars on my sub-specialty; infertility.
I have had extraordinary results in treating a range of conditions; chronic pain problems including the muscles, the joints and sporting injuries, psychiatric problems including depression and anxiety.
My specialist interest is treating patients with infertility and I feel proud to have had great success in this area. For each patient, after spending a large amount of time researching the most appropriate approach for individualised treatment, I have experienced that acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine can effectively help many women to naturally conceive and be successful at IVF treatment. Every time my clients tell me that they’re pregnant or bring their healthy new babies to see me, I feel complete joy for these young mums.
As the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius said: “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” As a practitioner, what makes me the happiest is seeing my patients improve and helping young mums beat the sorrow of infertility.
